Central America?
Cyclone fencing (or razor wire, as I'm told it's more commonly known) and big-ass guns.
More later -- including links to pictures.
The food was really yummy and the rum? Zacapa Centario is Guatemela's rum-based gift to girls who love whiskey!

Have you been shopping around for the irony of the week?
'Cuz I got it!
The 2005 Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) conference is in town this week. BSR is “an organization dedicated to promoting responsible business practices that demonstrate respect for workers.” Earlier this year, they decided to move their conference from San Francisco to Washington, D.C. Why? So the corporate execs in attendance wouldn’t be bothered by labor disputes.
I can't stop laughing. First there's the irony. Then there's the fact that the people who drafted the press release are so riddled with guilt for having achieved a modicum of material success and so addled with self-congratulatory warm fuzzies that they don't even see the irony.
(The second paragraph of this blog was inspired by Heather, half of the dynamic duo affectionately known as the thunder from down unda' -- the first paragraph was cribbed from another source.)
